Carla Quartas

Passionate about nature and all kinds of practice linked to the ocean since she was very young, she had her first contact with surfing in 2015, when she went to live in Australia, where she also had the opportunity to study sustainability.

Francisco Mendonça

His connection with the sea comes from the age of 12, when he started surfing. For several years, he worked as a surf instructor and, at the moment, he works on European projects related to nautical. Divide your time between Porto and Viana do Castelo.

Ricardo Rego

Father, bodyboarder and environmentalist. He joined the Surfrider Foundation Porto, because he believes he can make a difference and contribute to reversing the current cycle of destruction of the oceans and the planet, ensuring a better future for future generations.

Mariana Mata-lara

Mariana comes from the other side of the Atlantic and is a lover of everything that has to do with the Ocean. Be it diving, snorkeling, bodyboarding, what you love most is the photography of Grande Azul. Mariana studied Coastal Management, works on European coastal and marine projects, being a passionate advocate for sharks.

Mariana joined Surfrider in order to support projects to raise awareness of the importance of the Ocean and help with visual dissemination.

Iris Santos

She was born in the land of fishermen, her connection with the river and the sea has always been part of the person she is. Iris joined the Surfrider Foundation Porto, because she believes that education and respect for nature is something that everyone should defend.

Iris is a person of causes and feels that each one
of us can make a difference.

Cátia Lemos

Born in Porto, growing with summers on the beach. It is therefore nostalgic to witness such an infinite ecosystem that is there to comfort us. Whether in the academic field, as a biologist, or in everyday life, as a common citizen, it makes perfect sense, and it is with great satisfaction that Cátia is united to this cause for the sustainability and preservation of the oceans.

António Meireles

Enthusiastic about outdoor sports, he lives divided between the sea and the mountain. He started surfing at the age of fourteen; at fifteen, he decided to become an Environmental Engineer.

At twenty-five years of age, he was part of the group that created the Surfrider Foundation in Porto and, for the past nine years, works as a Sustainability specialist in the energy sector. In 2020, he left the responsibility that he had in the Chapter of Porto, having joined the Board of Directors of Surfrider Foundation Europe, maintaining, however, as a volunteer.

Luís Leite

Oceanographer and passionate about data analysis. Surfing, bodyboarding, bodysurfing, diving, fishing, research or environmental projects, are just the means he uses to enjoy the sea in its various aspects.

Committed to the protection of the oceans for over ten years, Luís saw in the Surfrider Foundation, a organization committed to the values ​​it defends, and its relationship with the surfer community the way to alert our society to environmental problems related to the sea.
